Our Relationship with UBM
FBMU Global Network
A shared mission, two legally distinct organizations
FBMU supports Bernadette Muleka University, while each institution retains its own governance, accounts, responsibilities, and legal obligations.
FBMU’s role
FBMU mobilizes donations, grants, partnerships, mentors, volunteers, and in-kind contributions. It retains discretion and control over received funds and decides whether a request fits its mission and capacity.
UBM’s role
UBM designs and implements academic programs, submits funding proposals, uses approved grants in accordance with agreements, and provides receipts, narrative reports, data, and evidence of impact.
The funding cycle
UBM submits a proposal; the committee reviews it; the board decides; an agreement is signed; funds are transferred to UBM’s institutional account; expenditures are documented; and an impact report is submitted.
What this relationship is not
FBMU is not a pass-through bank account, does not accept gifts earmarked for a named individual, and does not automatically transfer received funds. Donor restrictions are honored only when compatible with FBMU’s mission and legal discretion.
